Many professionals throughout the United States have mandated reporters of suspected child maltreatment. However, the legal requirement to report is often confusing to navigate in relation to our other professional and ethical responsibilities. This workshop provides a profession-based context to the role of the mandated reporter. Mandated reporters will learn a framework to guide the decision to make this “tough call” using research findings and practical advice based on real case examples.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this Live, Interactive Webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Determine when making a report to child protective services is required by law.  

  • Identify the ethical/ moral and legal conundrums faced when deciding to report.  

  • Apply a framework to guide the process for deciding whether to make a  report.

Instructor

Kathryn Krase, Ph.D., J.D., M.S.W., Principal Consultant with Krase Consultant, is an expert on the professional reporting of suspected child maltreatment. She has authored multiple books and articles on the subject. She has years of experience consulting with government and community based organizations to develop policy & practice standards.

“Making the Tough Call” is a project of Krase Consulting. Kathryn S. Krase is the sole proprietor of both initiatives. Both Making the Tough Call and Krase Consulting are registered entities in New York State.

How to Attend

Registration is required by midnight the day before the event. To attend this webinar,  you are required to:

  1. login and access the direct link to the webinar through your account
  2. your attendance is marked automatically when you use the direct link and attend fully
  3. complete a post-test and course evaluation at the conclusion of the event
  4. collect your certificate of completion on your account after steps 1-3 are completed

Prepare: Download Zoom software. Participants must use a device that is connected to adequate internet speed with a camera, microphone and speakers (or headset).

Attend: At least 15 minutes before the designated start time, login to your account on the website. Go to "My Courses", click on the title of the webinar. The link for the webinar will be listed in the course content.

Attendance is recorded automatically when you use the direct link and attend the full event.

24 hour notice is required if you are not able to make it to a live event. A 10% processing fee is required for all refunds. Recordings are not provided to webinar registrants.

Attendance is recorded when you use the direct link provided on the course page located under My Courses. An evaluation must be completed within one week of the event. Continuing Education credit(s) cannot be issued unless attendance is recorded and the evaluation is submitted.

Partial CE credits are not possible; therefore you are required to be present throughout the event in order to receive CE credits.
