Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor as well as a Certified Telemental Health Therapist. In addition to these credentials, I received my M.ED in Marriage, Family, Couples Therapy. Therefore, I have solid training and a great interest in couples and family work, even though my credentials don't necessarily indicate such. I have experience working in private practice settings, substance treatment programs, as well as college counseling. In these settings, I have conducted group sessions, individual sessions, play therapy, couples sessions, marriage counseling, faith-based counseling, as well as adolescent and child therapy. Additionally, I have experience and extensive training using tele-mental health to provide therapeutic services to my clients. My therapy style is conversational, relational and direct with a bit of humor when appropriate. During sessions, I like to keep a balance of processing heaviness with some lighthearted banter. Laughter is good for the soul and I tend to be a glass half-full kind of lady.
I work as a therapist part time, am a mom of 2 busy children, a doctoral student completing my dissertation for my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, and am a proud military spouse. I spend my spare time teaching others how to use essential oils, learning more about the body and nutrition, cooking, hiking, reading, and spending with my children. Given the changes in our lifestyles given the COVID-19, my newest endeavor is learning how to educate my children at home, while maintaining a proper work-life balance. Some of you may be able to relate as many folks are experiencing shelter-in-place efforts recommended (and in many states enforced) by our local governments. While times are crazy, I rely on my coping skills, life understanding, and faith to carry me through. We all need something to ground us when times get tough and for me, that is faith and family. Thanks for checking out my profile and learning a bit about me and my practice. I hope to connect soon!
