Benefits of the California Society for Clinical Social Work

There are endless benefits to becoming a member of Social Work Societies, including access to important training, community within the field, and the opportunity to be involved in advancing the field at a higher level. In an ever-changing, high-demand field, these organizations are greatly needed. Monica Blauner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychoanalyst with over 40 years of experience in mental health treatment. She is the former president of the California Society of Social Work and currently works at a private practice in Los Angeles.

Recently, Ray Barrett, CEO of the Telehealth Certification Institute, sat down to interview Monica and discuss the benefits of the California Society for Clinical Social Work.

The mission of the California Society of Social Work is to advance and promote the practice of clinical social work. According to Monica, the association serves as a community of like-minded people who can receive access to training and community within the field as well as lobby for important causes in social work. Monica got involved in the California Society for Clinical Social Work because she felt it was important to support the organization that promotes the efforts of clinical social workers.

In the past years, the California Society for Clinical Social Work has nearly doubled its membership. The board has a mentorship program and a team of licensed supervisors for those seeking supervision for licensure. The organization keeps members informed on changing rules and regulations in clinical social work and provides support and consultation groups for specific needs in the field.
