Description

“Using Motivational Interviewing Skills in Supervision”

Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills are not only a useful technique when working with clients, they are effective as a tool in clinical supervision as well. Supervisors who have been previously trained in MI will have the opportunity to dust off your skills and apply them to clinical supervision.

For the supervisor who has no previous training in this model, you will come away with an introduction to some basic skills in MI and learn how applicable they are to your supervision practice. We will review when to use MI in supervision and when other supervision styles are recommended. Supervisors will also be taught how to integrate MI with the supervisee's stage of development.

This is a non-interactive, self-study course.

Instruction consists of 1.5 hours of video instruction and a post-test.

Course Availability

Participants have 6 months from the time of registration to complete learning content and claim certificate of completion indicating CEs.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, professionals will be able to do the following:

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate how to use MI Skills in Supervision.
  • Explain the importance of matching MI skills to the stage of development of the supervisee.
